Two billion euros less than expected from tolls in Germany in 2024

The Federal Association for Freight Forwarding and Logistics (DSLV) in Berlin reports that the federal government’s toll revenue in 2024 fell well short of expectations due to the weak economy. Only 13 billion euros were collected instead of the planned 15 billion.

In 2025, the federal government expects revenues of 15.25 billion euros from tolls on trucks but the DSLV considers this to be unrealistic in view of the continuing weakness of the economy. Even with a projected 1.4 percent growth in road freight traffic by 2026, toll revenues will only increase to 13.2 billion euros.

This development has significant implications for the federal budget and the financing of infrastructure projects.
