On 8th of December 2011, the date of Belaya Vezha Agreement, CIS transport market history will exceed 20 years. During this period CIS cargo transportations market has been built from scratch and is one of most attractive now.
During last 10 years from 2000 to 2010 economics of CIS countries have grown up 5.5 times while developed countries have increased their GDP just by 61%. CIS influence on world goods turnover has been growing, CIS share of world turnover has increased 2 times. Mutual goods turnover between CIS and EU countries has increased in 8 times since 2000. Russia as before ensures 70% of the turnover. Kazakhstan (+1650% from 2000 to 2010), Belarus (+792%), and Ukraine (+694%) show the highest activity along with Russia.
It’s impossible to create goods turnover without arranged international logistic services system. The quantity of transport and logistics companies, acting on this market, grows day by day.
“I’ve started my career in the field of cargo transportation since the Soviet era. I was a chief of “Sovtransavto” Minsk department, when changes and second creation of transport market after USSR disintegration were taking place, - Vladimir Tajanko, Managing Director of international transport and logistics company TELS, narrates. – In Soviet Union international road transportations were performed by just two companies: “Sovtransavto” and “Sojuzvneshtrans”. They were big monopolistic enterprises with good development level, professionally arranged operation system, serious training of employees. “Sovtransavto” had its own missions in Poland, Germany, Italy, Belgium, other European countries. Company’s reputation was high abroad.
Soviet Union disintegration brought a lot of problems, both political and economic. European Union wasn’t established then, borders where everywhere, even between Belarus and Russian Federation. Several transport companies worked violating existing legislation, names “black market”, racket, banditry appeared. Transport market was changed in new situation. With private capital coming, a lot of new transport companies appeared. The process of their emergence was uncontrolled, that’s why soviet carriers’ high quality standards and image were rapidly wrecked. Western companies were afraid of cooperation with CIS market.
Now the situation is changed. “Evil 90-s” is in the past, economic and political state has been stabilized, professional carriers’ and forwarders’ Associations have been created. Road transportations market has become stable, civilized, transparent, predictable, and began to form new standards”.
