Poland’s new export orders down, particularly to Germany

Poland’s manufacturing sector sees a further decline, with the Purchasing Managers’ Index (PMI) dropping to 48.2 from 48.9 in November, marking the strongest deterioration since August, S&P Global reported on Thursday. The downturn was driven by steeper declines in output and stocks of purchases, despite a sustained rise in employment and a slower decline in new orders.

Poland’s new orders contracted in December at the slowest pace in more than a year owing to domestic demand. However, new export orders fell at the fastest rate in three months, particularly to Germany, where industrial orders and retail sales continued to decline.
