Vittorio Torrembini, President of the Association of Italian Entrepreneurs in Russia (GIM Unimpresa), accused the Lithuanian and Polish customs authorities of unlawful blocking of cargoes heading from Italy to Russia, including cargoes of Italian wine, at the borders of these countries.
Vittorio Torrembini considered the situation an “abuse of power” and “obvious discrimination” on the Polish and Lithuanian side. According to the businessman, representatives of the customs authorities of these countries simply block shipments heading to Russia from Italy, although the goods in these shipments are not subject to sanctions and their documents are in good order.
Torrembini also claims that the Poles and Lithuanians allow their own cargoes through the borders effortlessly: “It is strange that Lithuania has turned today into one of the main exporters of wine to Russia, isn't it? Does Lithuania have wine?”
