U.S. ships and vessels are now barred from passing through the Red Sea and the Arabian Sea, the movement will open fire at them if they break the ban, said Abdul Malik al-Houthi, the leader of the Yemeni movement Ansar Allah.
As a reminder, in late 2023, the Houthis, in support of the Palestinian Hamas movement, started targeting ships associated with Israel. Attacks stopped after the ceasefire began in January 2025. On 12 March, the Houthis again threatened attacks and demanded the resumption of humanitarian aid to the enclave.
On 15 March, U.S. President Donald Trump announced the start of military action against the Houthis. Several Yemeni provinces havebbeen hit. The movement says they will not agree to a ceasefire until Washington is held accountable for the strikes.
