Global air cargo demand increases for the second consecutive month

According to the International Air Transport Association (IATA), the global civil aviation cargo turnover increased by 1.9% in September year-on-year, reaching 20.8 billion t-km. The growth in demand for air cargo transportation has been observed for the second month in a row.

Middle Eastern airlines increased the turnover by 2.5%, while Latin American airlines by 2.3%.

North American and European airlines have demonstrated the largest decline in traffic, with North American traffic down by 2.2% compared to the last year's level, and European traffic also down by 1.5%, compared to September 2022.

The volume of air transportation by African airlines decreased by 0.1%, however, a significant increase in demand was observed on Africa–Asia routes in September (+12.8%).
