German and Polish Carriers Reduced Mileage in Germany in February

The Federal Logistics and Mobility Office (BALM) has published data on heavy goods vehicle traffic on toll roads in Germany. Following a 3.5% increase in January (year-on-year), the total volume of heavy goods vehicles weighing more than 3.5 tonnes on toll roads fell by 2.5% year-on-year in February.

Both German and Polish carriers have noted a reduction in mileage. Lithuanian trucks also recorded a lower result.

In freight transport segment with GVW of 7.5 tonnes and above, the decline was more significant. The result in February was 4.9% lower year-on-year, with German trucks recording a result 5.6% worse than a year ago. Vehicles registered in Poland travelled on German toll roads 4.4% less than in February 2024.

At the same time, preliminary data showed that toll truck mileage on German motorways increased in March 2025. The seasonally and calendar adjusted mileage index increased 2.7% compared to the previous month and 0.9% compared to March last year.
