FedEx cuts air cargo fleet due to reduced demand

FedEx Express, an American express mail and cargo delivery company, will continue to remove cargo planes in the current fiscal year. The share of the reduction from the total fleet is relatively small, yet the trend is steady due to the projected decline in demand.

During the fourth quarter of the 2023 fiscal year that ended May 31, FedEx decommissioned 18 aircraft. In fiscal year 2024, the company plans to remove 29 more aircraft, nine of which will be decommissioned.

The carrier currently operates a fleet of 700 aircraft, 407 of which are long-haul and 293 are used for feeder services.
