Europe’s largest port reduces the cargo turnover but increases the revenue

Rotterdam (the Netherlands), Europe’s largest port, has reported that it handled 220.738 million tons of cargo during the first half of the year, which is 5.5% less than during the same period last year.

The transshipment of containers declined by 8.2% reaching 6.681 million tons. The container load declined by 9.3% – 64.445 million TEUs, while the total cargo weight declined by 9.3%.

From a financial standpoint, however, the first half of the year was successful, with the revenue increasing by 1% to 416.5 million euros. Although the net profit dropped by 18.3% to 116.5 million euros. The investments in the first six months of this year were 15.9% higher than the previous year, amounting to 135.7 million euros.
