Crisis Apart, Reality in Figures

Considerable reduction of import goods transported from the European Union to the Russian Federation by road in 2015 concerned all the countries in the EU and almost all the types of goods making -32.3% as compared to the year 2014.

Regarding the cargoes that make the largest part in motor freight transportation, the delivery of the following types of goods decreased dramatically: industrial and household equipment, transport, fruit and vegetables, plastic, paper and paper goods, metalware and woodwork. As for the delivery of chemical products, the reduction was much less.

However, import of certain goods transported to the Russian Federation by road was steady (or reduced insignificantly) or even increased in 2015 (even though their share in all the goods imported to Russia by road is small).

The delivery of photo and cinema goods increased by 13% (up to 7.6 thousand tons), live animals by 11% (up to 14.9 thousand tons), oilseeds and fruit by 7% (up to 35.5 thousand tons).

Import of second-hand clothes and tobacco goods was steady.

Import of certain goods transported from the European Union to the Russian Federation by road decreased not more than by 3%. This reduction concerned:

  • sulphur, sand and stone

  • plaster, lime and cement

  • modifying and starching substances, glue and enzymes

  • sugar

  • wood pulp and other fibrous materials, regenerated paper and cardboard

  • certain types of grains
