Cargo traffic along the Trans-Caspian International Transport Route nearly doubles

The Trans-Caspian International Transport route, which runs through China, Kazakhstan, Azerbaijan, Georgia, Turkey and to European countries, is registering a rapid growth in freight traffic. The press service of Kazakhstan Railways reported that between January and June 2023, the volume of freight traffic along the transport corridor amounted to 1.3 million tons, which is 77.2% higher than over the same period last year.

In 2022, 1.5 million tons of cargo were transported along the route, which is 2.5 times more than in 2021. The volume of container transportation along the Trans-Caspian Corridor amounted to 33.6 thousand TEU, which constitutes a 33% increase.

According to the Ministry of Industry of Kazakhstan, cargo delivery time along the corridor is now 18-23 days (earlier it exceeded 50 days).
