The flow of fruits and vegetables from EU to Customs Union has nearly reached prior-embargo level

The volumes of fruit and vegetable import increased by 13% for the last 6 months  (comparing with the volumes of 2014)

1 071 K tones of fresh and  frozen fruits and vegetables were imported to Belarus from EU countries in Jan – Jun 2015  (all transport modes). Mainly  the goods were imported by auto transport (2 060K, t.). The main volume was imported from Lithuania (very likely the part of these goods was produced in other countries and just transported from the Lithuanian territory due to transshipment).

Sharp increase of fruit and vegetable import has begun starting from October 2014, after Russia forbade the import of these goods from EU countries to Russian Federation.

The growth of import increased in 2015. Kazakhstan has also increased the import of fruit and vegetables. The total monthly  volume of import of these goods from EU to the countries of Customs Union has nearly reached the level of 2014 (prior-embargo) –240 K tones.
