Import of Milk and Cream to Belarus Increased 7.6 Times

1,430 thousand tons of cargoes were transported by road from the countries of the European Union to the Republic of Belarus in the first six months of 2016, which is 15.3% less than in the same period of the previous year.

The strongest factor determining the contraction of road transportation market in this direction was a considerable reduction in imports of fruits and vegetables. The volume of fruits imported in January-June in 2016 reduced by 23.2% (up to 626 thousand tons), vegetables and root crops – by 35.1% (up to 178 thousand tons) against the same period of the previous year.

At the same time, import of milk and cream from the EU to the Republic of Belarus increased over 7.6 times. 58.5 thousand tons of these products were imported to the territory of Belarus in the first six months in 2016 against 7.6 thousand tons of cargoes imported in the same period of the previous year.

Moreover, imports of building materials from concrete, cement and similar materials group increased considerably from nonfoods imported to Belarus.
