The influx of foreign entrepreneurs in Europe began in May, and every month there are more and more drivers and transport companies from abroad. 95% of entrepreneurs who have set up their businesses in Europe developed the transport industry in their homeland.
The Bureau of International Transport, in the first seven months of this year, granted 5.8 thou. licenses for international road transport of goods by vehicles weighing over 3.5 tons, which is 21 percent more than in the same period last year.
According to the Polish Bureau of International Transport, entrepreneurs submitted 5.3 thou. international road transport license applications in March, which is almost 18% more than in the same period in 2021. In May, the number of applications rose to a record figure of 7.5 thou., bringing the growth rate to 87%. In June, a decrease down to 55% was evidenced, and in July this indicator increased again to 69%, or 6.1 thou.
According to Mariusz Biernacki, Director of the Department of the Siedlce Association of Carriers, the growth of foreign transport companies is the result of establishing businesses in Poland by Ukrainian and Belarusian enterprises.
Similar data are provided by the Main Center for Economic Information (Centralny Ośrodek Informacji Gospodarczej). In the first half of the year, 5,581 companies were established by foreign entrepreneurs in Poland, which is more than 19% compared to a year earlier. Citizens of Ukraine set up 2,363 companies, Belarus - 727, Germany - 226, Turkey - 140. According to the Center, 470 companies indicated road transport of goods as a type of activity, which outranked the IT sector. IT companies amounted to 320 in the first half of the year.
