On July 29, the Chinese media reported the dispatch of the ten thousandth container train operating on the China–Europe routes in 2023.
The milestone of 10,000 shipments of China–Europe freight trains by China State Railway Group Co. was crossed 22 days earlier this year than in 2022. In 2023, these trains carried more than 1.08 million standard containers of cargo, which is 27% more than during the same period last year.
In this regard, the European Commission published additional clarifications on the restrictions imposed in the 11th Sanctions Package. It is stated that goods of non-Russian origin transiting through the territory of Russia are not subject to the EU sanctions. There are only two exceptions: 1. The cargo exported from Russia was once imported into Russia; 2. The goods were purchased by an economic operator in Russia and stored in a Russian warehouse for a while for subsequent re-export.
